Note that after the success of the 1974 film Emmanuelle, many authorized sequels were created. The success also spawned many "knock-off" Emmanuelle films, which included the name Emmanuelle or its variants in their titles for exploitative reasons, but were not connected to the original series. Finally, note that this series of movies starring Sylvia Kristel was based on the book written in 1959 by Emmanuelle Arsan, although some people think that her husband, Louis-Jacques Rollet-Andriane, actually wrote the book. Note that this item (and others we are auctioning in this set of auctions) come to us from the estate of Lee Sanders. Mr. Sanders was a nationally recognized projectionist, film poster collector, and union activist who passed away earlier this year, and the net proceeds from the sale of his varied and eclectic collection will be donated to promote film studies at the Besant School of Happy Valley in Ojai, Ca.
