An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Military One-Sheet Movie Poster (27" x 41") (Learn More) The Black Shield of Falworth, the 1954 Rudolph Mate Universal medieval adventure thriller ("All the vast pageantry and towering excitement the thundering thrills of knighthood's epic age!"; "The epic story of Myles Falworth... who pledged his life to save a throne... and his love to win a fabulous beauty!"; "All the pageantry and excitement of Knighthood's epic age!"; based on the book 'Men of Iron' by Howard Pyle) starring Tony Curtis (as a knight with a Brooklyn accent!), Janet Leigh, David Farrar, Barbara Rush, Herbert Marshall, Torin Thatcher, Daniel O'Herlihy, and Rhys Williams. Note that there is a long-standing rumor that Curtis badly mangles the line "Yonder lies the castle of my father" as "Yonda lies the castle of my faddah." However, a collector tells us that line is not even in the film, but there is a similar line in Son of Ali Baba which was pronounced correctly. Also note that stars Tony Curtis and Janet Leigh had been married since 1951, three years before this movie was released. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this is a military one-sheet. Military one-sheets were printed at the same time as the regular U.S. one-sheets when the movie was first released. They were made to be used on U.S. military installations. Sometimes the poster has small writing at the bottom that says "For Distribution and Use at U.S. Military Establishments Only", and sometimes they just have "Litho in U.S.A." in small letters in the lower right. This is one of the posters that says "Litho in U.S.A.". What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster had tiny paper loss at the crossfolds and some creases and smudges along the foldlines and some pinholes, creases, and smudges around the edges of the poster.
