An Original Vintage Linenbacked English World War II Poster (measures 20" x 30 1/4" [51 x 77 cm]) (Learn More)

Never Was So Much Owed By So Many To So Few, the 1940 English World War II (WWII) poster featuring the famous quote by Prime Minster Winston Churchill, and an image of five uniformed airmen. While the quote was a tribute to the fighter pilots of the Battle of Britain, the airmen featured actually belonged to a bomber crew. However, by picturing these sergeant-pilots, as opposed to commissioned officers, the message of the poster was clear; the victory of 1940 was won through the efforts and sacrifices of the Royal Air Force as a whole.

Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned one example of this English poster, and that was 5 years ago, when it sold for $830!

What IS linenbacking? Learn More

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster had some surface paper loss and tiny tears on parts of the folds, with some smudges and scuffs in the blue background areas and some small tears and paper loss in the upper left border. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well!
