While the quote was a tribute to the fighter pilots of the Battle of Britain, the airmen featured actually belonged to a bomber crew. However, by picturing these sergeant-pilots, as opposed to commissioned officers, the message of the poster was clear; the victory of 1940 was won through the efforts and sacrifices of the Royal Air Force as a whole. Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster had some surface paper loss and tiny tears on parts of the folds, with some smudges and scuffs in the blue background areas and some small tears and paper loss in the upper left border.
