Rogell Universal inheritance horror mystery crime melodrama ("suggested by the story by Edgar Allen Poe"; about a rich old lady who is nearing the end of her life, and her greedy relatives show up ready to inherit, and one is not willing to wait any longer) starring Basil Rathbone, Hugh Herbert, Broderick Crawford (billed as "Brod Crawford"), Bela Lugosi, Gale Sondergaard, Anne Gwynne, Gladys Coopers, Cecilia Loftus, Claire Dodd, John Eldredge, and Alan Ladd (who had a tiny part, but was billed prominently in the movie's 1948 reissue, because he had risen to stardom in the interim!). Note that Universal had also made a movie with this name in 1934 with Boris Karloff and Bela Lugosi, but this movie is not a remake of that movie. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this 17x22 English trade ad was removed from the June 26, 1941 issue of Kinematograph Weekly and there is text the back of both pages of the trade ad, but it does not affect the great image on the reverse, which absolutely can be displayed and enjoyed (and it is an original "poster" for the movie, printed before the movie came out). From the 1920s on, studios would create elaborate trade ads, often in full color, and often using the finest artists of the day. They would run these ads in their studio yearbooks and exhibitor magazines, and they would also print those trade ads separately and mail them individually to theater owners, trying to get them to book that specific movie. Sometimes those books and magazines are separated and the ads, which now greatly resemble the individually printed trade ads, are sold individually. The trade ad offered here was removed from an English trade magazine (Kinematograph Weekly). It can be framed and displayed (but many trade ads have different images on each side, so one must choose which side to display if it is framed!). Condition: very good. The ad was removed from a magazine (see above). Learn More about condition grades
