Towering screen triumph!"; "'Nobody takes what's mine!'"; "A picture to remember from Warner Bros."; "Warner Bros.' Towering Triumph"; "No man takes what's mine!"; "The great best seller made greater on the screen by Warner Bros."; "Screen Play by Ayn Rand from her Novel 'The Fountainhead'"; about a dedicated architect who refuses to compromise his principles, regardless of the cost; amazingly, Rand managed to keep much of the essence of her very wordy novel on screen; Rand herself picked Gary Cooper for the lead, and he had a serious affair with his much younger co-star Patricia Neal) starring Gary Cooper (as Howard Roark; "This is his role of roles!"), Patricia Neal (as Dominique Francon), Raymond Massey (as Gail Wynand), Kent Smith (as Peter Keating), Robert Douglas (as Ellsworth Toohey), Henry Hull (as Henry Cameron), Ray Collins (as Roger Enright), and Jerome Cowan (as Alvah Scarret) NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster originally had a blank top that was neatly trimmed off (this is commonly done with Belgian posters, similar to how the blank top is trimmed off of U.S. window cards). The poster had an oval-shaped area of paper loss in the left of the upper middle of the image, but fortunately, it was completely in the background and the top of the red beneath it. It had a fold across the original middle with some tears and tiny bits of paper loss along that fold. There were some tears and pinholes around the edges. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed (and the missing area described above was well replaced and is not distracting), but you can see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects.
