A 1948 Realart Re-Release Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Phantom of the Opera, the 1943 Arthur Lubin Universal musical horror thriller ("The Screen's Classic of Terror!"; based on the classic novel by Gaston Leroux, and a remake of the silent classic featuring Lon Chaney Sr.) starring Nelson Eddy, Susanna Foster (as Christine), Claude Rains (in the title role as Erique Claudin, the Phantom of the Opera), Edgar Barrier (as Raoul), Leo Carrillo, Jane Farrar, J. Edward Bromberg, Fritz Feld, Hume Cronyn, and "a cast of thousands"! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have never auctioned an example of this 1948 Realart re-release one-sheet poster before and other than two inserts, we have never auctioned any other posters from this re-release! Condition: fair to good. The poster had separation on parts of the folds with some tiny bits of paper loss on parts of some folds and someone put some tape on the back of parts of the folds, but not on other areas that have separation. It had tack holes around the edges. The poster has an area of surface paper loss to the left and right of the top of the bottom credits, in the background areas. There was once a snipe attached over the word "Technicolor" at bottom center (surely because the movie was not being shown in Technicolor), and the snipe was removed and there is surface paper loss at the left and right of that word and also in the middle of it, caused by the removal of that snipe. Obviously a talented restorer can address the above defects, but bear them in mind before bidding on this rare poster. Learn More about condition grades
