An Original Vintage Comic Book (measures 6 3/4" x 10 1/4" [17 x 26 cm]) (Learn More) Ghost Rider is a Marvel comic book superhero which was created by Roy Thomas, Gary Friedrich and Mike Ploog in 1972. The first supernatural Ghost Rider is stunt motorcyclist Johnny Blaze, who, in order to save the life of his father, agreed to give his soul to Satan. At night and when around evil, Blaze finds his flesh consumed by hellfire, causing his head to become a flaming skull. He rides a fiery motorcycle and wields blasts of hellfire from his body, usually from his skeletal hands. Nicolas Cage starred as the Johnny Blaze iteration of the character in the 2007 film Ghost Rider and its 2012 sequel, Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance. Gabriel Luna plays another version in the television (TV) series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Ghost Rider, set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Important Added Info: Note that this is a "key issue" that features the first appearance of Ghost Rider, the first appearance of Johnny Blaze, the first appearance of Zarathos, the first appearance of Crash Simpson, and the first appearance of Roxanne Simpson! Note that because this is an earlier issue, we have pictured many pages of the comic book in this auction, but due to a space limitation, only TEN of those images are displayed above. IMPORTANT: there is a "supersize" link to the right of those images that lets you see the other ones, so be sure to click on that to see ALL the images from this comic. Please note that we don't use a "comic guide" grading system, and OUR grading scale is completely different from standard comic book grading. Our "very good" is completely different from a comic book graded "very good". We provide many images of the comic book (covers, plus interior 2-page spreads), which surely allows you to get an excellent opinion of the exact condition of this comic book, so it takes out any worries that the comic has been "over-graded", because you can "grade" it yourself, by looking at the many images! This is one of a remarkable collection of 268 mostly 1970s Marvel comics, including 136 issues of The Amazing Spider-Man, with most of the issues between #15 and #156, plus #2 and #12! These were consigned directly from the collector who gathered them in the 1970s, and none have had any restoration or have been "slabbed"! And EVERY one of these 268 comics start at $1 with truly no reserve. This is the kind of buying opportunity every comic book collector dreams of, and when these auctions close on October 26, every one of these comics will have a new owner! UPDATED 10/11/2021: Note that some long-ago owner of this comic book (surely in the 1970s, and surely before our consignor bought it) put three tiny staples into the spine, in addition to the regular staples that are still there. If you look closely at our image of the front and back cover, you can see these tiny additional staples. Please bear this in mind before bidding on this rare and desirable comic book. Condition: good. Learn More about condition grades
