An Original Vintage Theatrical Paperbacked Style A One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) Here Comes Mr. Jordan, the 1941 Alexander Hall (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award for this film) boxing sports fantasy reincarnation romantic comedy ("The year's big surprise entertainment"; "You will laugh... you will cheer... you will be deeply, strangely stirred!"; "Get set for one of the years greatest comedies!"; "One of the year's greatest comedies!"; "Daring! Different! Delightful!"; "Here comes rich laughter! Here comes warm emotion!"; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award; about a boxer who is killed "by mistake", and an angel gives him a new body, because his old one was destroyed; he becomes a rich man, but he doesn't like his new life, and it is complicated by him finding the love of his life, but fortunately, the head angel finds a solution to all his problems) starring Robert Montgomery (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film), Claude Rains, Evelyn Keyes, James Gleason (nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film), Edward Everett Horton, Rita Johnson, and John Emery. Note that Warren Beatty remade this movie in 1978, very closely following the original plot, but changing boxing to football, and he changed the name to "Heaven Can Wait", which was the name of the source play for this movie (it was not used for this movie, and it was used two years later on a different major 1940s comedy, starring Don Ameche) NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster has been paperbacked, but not in the usual way (which is an alternate form of restoration that is similar to linenbacking, but involves backing the poster onto Japanese rice paper). THIS poster HAS been mounted onto Japanese rice paper, but it appears that it was done so in preparation to having the poster linenbacked, but that (for unknown reasons) the owner of this poster did not have the job finished, so the poster has solely been mounted on thin Japanese rice paper. There also has been no restoration done to the poster (it would have been done after the poster and paper were mounted on linen). Any talented restorer could certainly go ahead and linenback this poster (either using the current rice paper, or re-backing the poster onto different rice paper first), and after proper linenbacking and restoration to the poster's defects, it will look great! But because the poster is currently mounted onto a thin rice paper, it is fragile, and of course, will need to be sent rolled in a tube. Please do not bid on this poster unless you have read the above carefully! Condition: fair. There is tattering and paper loss along the foldlines and edges. Some of this paper loss has been repaired with paint from the front. There are smudges throughout the poster. Learn More about condition grades
