Artist: Armando Seguso Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned one example of this 1939 first release insert, and that was 25 years ago, and it sold for $2,875 and it had paper loss in the top corners! Condition: good to very good. The poster was never machine folded. However, it was roughly handled while it was rolled, which resulted in a number of faint partial vertical creases roughly every 2" in the poster, but they are MUCH more noticeable from the back, and only slightly from the front. The poster has a fine 2 1/2" razor cut in the background to the right of Gable's head, extending into the bottom of his ear and partially into his cheek, but it is very fine. There are many light smudges and scuffs around the edges and some scattered within the image, with some slight darkening in areas. There is a vertical area of discoloration in the upper right background area between Gable's head and the right border. There are tiny staple holes in the bottom center of the poster. There are three small tears in the top of the poster. Someone put two pieces of paper tape on the back of the top border, one piece of paper tape on the back of the center of the poster, and one small piece on the back of the lower right border. The three border pieces of paper tape on the back may have been put there to mend small tears, but the fourth piece on the back of the center was not put there for a restoration purpose. Other than the paper tape described above, the poster has had no restoration, and certainly, this very rare poster can be displayed and enjoyed as it is, or one can choose to have any restoration performed, but that will be the choice of the new owner!
