eMoviePoster.comAuction History Result 7p051 YOUNG DR. KILDARE glass slide '38 Lew Ayres, Lionel Barrymore & pretty Lynne Carver! Date Sold 10/4/2009Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Glass Slide (measures approximately 3" x 4") (Learn More) Young Dr. Kildare, the 1938 Harold S. Bucquet medical doctor physician hospital melodrama ("Women in sables! Men in white!") starring Lew Ayres (in the title role as Dr. James Kildare), Lionel Barrymore (as Dr. Gillespie), Lynne Carver, Nat Pendleton, Samuel S. Hinds, and Jack Mulhall. Note that this was the second in the long-running series of Dr. Kildare movies. In the first, "Internes Can't Take Money", made the year before this movie, Dr. Kildare was played by Joel McCrea (Ayres would keep the part for the rest of the series). Note that Lew Ayres was born Lewis Frederick Ayre III, but in movies he was known as "Lew Ayres". In this movie, strangely, he was accidentally mis-billed on some items as "Lew Ayers", especially odd, given that he had been starring in movies for nearly a decade! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Glass slides were designed to be put in a special projector that would project the image onto a movie screen (they use exactly the same concept as 35mm slides). We have taken a digital photo of each that shows the general condition of the overall slide and holder, and we have also made a digital scan that shows the glass image well, but does not show the holder (except as a dark outline). Condition: fair. There is much staining on the back of the top left corner of the image, and it has destroyed part of the writing. Learn More about condition grades
