An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Glass Slide (measures approximately 3" x 4") (Learn More) Big Time, the 1929 Kenneth Hawks New York City Broadway theater stage acting Hollywood movie romantic love triangle musical melodrama ("All talking Fox Movietone drama of back stage life and in Hollywood studios."; about a male Broadway dancer and his actress girlfriend; they become a team and hit the "big time", and they go to Hollywood, where the man falls for a beautiful star, and that breaks up their team, and his career goes straight downhill, and he ends up as a Hollywood extra) starring Lee Tracy, Mae Clarke, Daphne Pollard, Josephine Dunn, Stepin Fetchit (one of the first black African American actors to achieve success in mainstream sound movies; unfortunately often the only roles he was offered was playing servants or other stereotypes), and John Ford (in a cameo role, playing himself!). Note that director Kenneth Hawks was a World War I veteran and graduated from Yale, and he seemed to have an incredibly bright future when he was signed to director for Fox Films, three years after his brother Howard started directing. He married Mary Astor in 1928, and he directed this movie and two others, but on January 2, 1930, he was killed in a plane crash during the filming of his last movie, and that left Mary Astor a widow, and the studio completed that movie and released it two months after his passing. Important Added Info: Note that glass slides were designed to be put in a special projector that would project the image onto a movie screen (they use exactly the same concept as 35mm slides). We have taken a digital photo of each that shows the general condition of the overall slide and holder, and we have also made a digital scan that shows the glass image well, but does not show the holder (except as a dark outline). Condition: fine. The glass slide itself is in nice condition and the cardboard holder has some minor smudges (as can be seen in our super-sized images). Learn More about condition grades
