A Linenbacked German Travel Poster (measures 16 1/2" x 23 3/4" [42 x 60 cm]) (Learn More) Die Schone Strecke (literally translates to "The Beautiful Route"), the 1930s German railroad railway train travel poster encouraging people to take the train to visit Berchtesgaden (later home to Hitler's Eagle's Nest), Hangender Stein and Salzburg, Germany. This poster features art of the countryside by Max Bletschacher. Note that this poster was produced by the Deutsche Reichsbahn (German National Railway) and the Salzburger Eisenbahn und Tramway-Gesellschaft (Salzburg Railway and Tramway Company). Artist: Max Bletschacher Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had paper loss in the upper right green area, with a tear beneath it, extending into the light blue area. It had some paper loss scattered in the left and right borders, very slightly entering the image background. It had a few small tears and tiny bits of paper loss in the upper right of the image. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but you can see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects.
