BOY, A GIRL & A DOG 1/2sh '46

Lease from Hershenson/Allen Archive

A Boy, a Girl, and a Dog, the 1946 Herbert Kline World War II (WWII) military canine dog war adventure melodrama ("The year's best down-to-earth, close-to-your-heart, full-of-fun picture!"; "The story that cuddles up right next to your heart!"; about a boy and a girl who volunteer their pet dog to serve in the military in the K-9 Corps) starring Sharyn Moffett ("The darling little heart stealer of 'My Pal Wolf'"), Jerry Hunter ("Hollywood's greatest boy discovery since Jackie Coogan in 'The Kid'"), Harry Davenport, Lionel Stander, Charles Williams, Howard Johnson, John Vosper, Charlotte Treadway, and Nancy Evans. Note that the IMDb says that this movie was filmed in 1944, but was not released until 1946, and was titled "A Boy, a Girl, and a Dog", and was first released by Film Classics (a studio known primarily for re-releases). But we have also seen a poster from this movie with the title "Lucky the Outcast", and it is from Astor Pictures (another studio known primarily for re-releases), and that poster says "Formerly 'A Boy A Girl and A Dog'" (and both releases were from "W.R. Frank"). We don't know when either of these releases are from, or if the Film Classics release IS the very first release (perhaps the IMDb is wrong). If anyone knows more about this movie under either of its titles, please e-mail us and we will post it here.
