An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) The Yankee Don, the 1931 Noel M. Smith Mexico crime romantic melodrama (about a New York criminal who hides out in Mexico, and his better side comes out when he meets a Mexican girl whose family is being hurt by crooks, and he helps them and wins the girl) starring Richard Talmadge, Lupita Tovar, Julian Rivero, Sam Appel, and Gayne Whitman. Note that Richard Talmadge was born "Sylvester Alphonse Metz", and he was an acrobat with the Barnum and Bailey Circus. He got a job in Hollywood as a stuntman for Douglas Fairbanks Sr., and then graduated to starring in movies, always performing lots of stunts. He had two acrobat brothers, Otto Metzetti and Victor Metz, who appeared with him in some of his movies. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had small paper loss at the bottom crossfold and some creases, small tears, and tiny paper loss on parts of some folds, with paper loss in the right 1" of the middle fold. It had some pinholes around the edges. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did little restoration to the defects described above. Learn More about condition grades
