Irwin! Date Sold 3/9/2017Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Kraftbacked Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 28" x 40 3/4" [71 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Fall Round-Up on the Y-6 Ranch, the 1911 silent cowboy western ("On Big and Little Horse Creeks, Wyoming"). Note that the Y-6 Ranch was owned by Charles Burton Irwin (C.B. Irwin). Irwin was a larger than life folk hero of the late 1800s and early 1900s. He was literally much larger than life, weighing 14 pounds at birth and weighing 500 pounds when he passed away! There are so many stories about him that it is hard to separate fact from fantasy, because he seemed to interact with all the western heroes of that time period, including Will Rogers. He was born in Missouri and moved to Colorado, but eventually settled in Wyoming, where he became an owner of a huge ranch, and became very wealthy. He was apparently close friends with Tom Horn, the outlaw, and sang for him as he was being hung, and he apparently partially based this movie (one of two movies he made) on Tom Horn's life story. Read more about C.B. Irwin at this page: http://www.truewestmagazine.com/the-legacy-of-cb-irwin-and-the-y-6-ranch/ If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have never seen or heard of any movie paper from this movie other than this one-sheet, not surprising since it is from 1911. One might normally wonder if this poster was truly from the first release of this movie, but in this case, there is no doubt, because it has a printed lithograph text block in the lower right, along with a 1911 date above it! Note that this one-sheet measures 28" x 40 3/4" [71 x 104 cm]. Also note that this poster has been kraftbacked, which means it was backed onto a brown paper soon after it was printed (this process is called "kraft-backing", and posters with it are called "kraft-backed"). One could have it professionally removed from the kraft paper and linenbacked, and it would look great! Condition: good to very good. The poster was kraftbacked (see above). It has small paper loss in the left of the middle horizontal fold, with tiny paper loss and some folded back paper in the middle of the vertical fold. It has some tiny paper loss at the top crossfold and in the vertical fold in the background below the horse's body. It has 4" of separation and small tears in the top of the vertical fold. There are pinholes, tears, tiny paper loss, and some faint water stains in the borders. None of the above defects are all that significant. After the poster is removed from the kraft paper and properly linenbacked, it will look incredible! Learn More about condition grades
