An Undated (probably 1950s) Re-Release Theatrical German 9 1/2" x 12" [24 x 30 cm] Movie Still (Learn More) Bronenosets Potyomkin (released in the U.S. as "The Battleship Potemkin"), the classic 1925 Sergei Eisenstein Russian Revolution silent military war thriller (considered by many to be in the handful of greatest movies ever made; the movie includes the famous Odessa steps sequence) starring Ivan Bobrov, Beatrice Vitoldi, N. Poltavseva, Aleksandr Antonov, and Vladimir Barsky Important Added Info: Note that this German still, which measures 9 1/2" x 12" [24 x 30 cm], is somewhat of a mystery. We don't believe it is from the first release of the movie in 1925, but when it is from is really hard to pin down. Someone glued a snipe on the back of the top center of the still that says "Armored Cruiser 'Potemkin'", which was the title when the movie was first released in the U.S. in 1926. There is no printing on the front or back of the still other than the snipe, and a stamp on the back from a collector that owned it. We are guessing that it is from the 1950s, and we are only calling it a German still because it measures very close to most German stills of this period. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Please do not bid on this still unless you can accept the uncertainties as to its origin. Also, note that this is one of two similar stills we are auctioning in two separate auctions. Condition: very good to fine. Learn More about condition grades
