An Original Vintage Comic Book (measures approximately 7 1/8" x 10 1/4") (Learn More) Bobby Benson and the B-Bar-B Riders is an old-time radio juvenile Western adventure program from 1932 to 1955. Bobby Benson was created by Herbert C. Rice, after representatives of the Hecker H-O Company of Buffalo sought to develop a children's radio program for the company's cereal products. The program was called The H-Bar-O Rangers while it was sponsored by Hecker and later renamed to Bobby Benson and the B-Bar-B Riders. The show proved to be a big hit, spawning a comic book series, merchandise, and more! Artist: Bob Powell Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this comic book! Note that the cover story shows The Lemonade Kid fighting a mysterious villain called "The Spider". In the story, he wears a spider-like costume with extra spider legs and he shoots webbing from his hands that encases his enemies in rope nets. At the climax of the story, The Lemonade Kid captures The Spiders, and it turns out he is the corrupt chief of police. We wonder if Steve Ditko or Stan Lee read this comic twelve years before The Amazing Spider-Man appeared in Amazing Fantasy #15, because there are definite similarities! Contents: Stories by Paul S. Newman and others. Art by Bob Powell. Edited by Raymond C. Krank. Cover by Bob Powell. Teen cowboy adventures set in the 1950s, based on the popular radio program that ran from 1949 to 1955.
