Gunga Din, the classic 1939 George Stevens British-in-India military romantic war melodrama ("Inspired by Rudyard Kipling's poem"; "Inspired by Rudyard Kipling's heroic lines"; "Out of the stirring glory of Kipling's seething India they roar - three fighting, loving, swaggering sons of the lusty Battalions... in the picture that's too big for words!"; "The giant of all romance - action shows!"; "Red-blood and gunpowder heroes... roaring for battle or ready for love!"; "From a Story by Ben Hecht and Charles MacArthur"; note that IMDB lists William Faulkner as an uncredited writer for this movie) starring Cary Grant, Victor McLaglen, Douglas Fairbanks Jr., Sam Jaffe (in the title role as Gunga Din), Eduardo Ciannelli, Joan Fontaine, and Robert Coote

Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this cool standee, which was definitely issued by the studio (it has small text in the bottom giving RKO information)! Standees from 1930s classic Hollywood movies are beyond rare, because they were normally broken up and thrown out after they were used one time, because it didn't pay to re-transport them. This is one of the only standees from any classic 1930s movies we have ever auctioned! Because the poster was created on a heavy board, it will need to be shipped in a very large flat package that measures approximately 22" x 39", so incorporate that cost of shipping into your bidding.

Condition: good. There are many scuffs in the bottom blank area, with some surface paper loss in the corners of that area. There is a stain next to the "F" of "FAIRBANKS" and one in the lower left border, with some scuffs and stains scattered throughout the standee. There is a vertical scuff in the top center going into the head of the man at center and one at top left going into the head of that man. There is some wear around the edges. Obviously, this standee can be restored, or it can be displayed as it is, but bear its defects in mind before bidding.
