An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) The Beloved Traitor, the 1918 William Worthington silent Maine New York City romantic love triangle comedy ("From the popular novel by Frank L. Packard"; about a Maine sculptor whose girlfriend urges him to go to New York City so he can be more successful, and when he does, he falls for a big city woman, but his sculpture suffers, and he comes to realize that his earlier girlfriend was his inspiration, so he returns to her and finds love and better sculpture!) starring Mae Marsh, E.K. Lincoln, Hedda Hopper, George Fawcett, Bradley Barker, and Chester Morris (just 17 years old and eighth billed in his second movie ever!). Click on Chester Morris' name to learn much more about how he got started in movies this early (he had a really minor role in this movie as "Dan")! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that Chester Morris was an unknown 17 year old when this movie was made, and, as noted above, he had a very minor part. So it is a stroke of luck that he appeared on this lobby card, since he likely appeared on no other advertising! Note that cinema pioneer Samuel Goldwyn (one of the founders of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer) conducted an interesting experiment with lobby cards in late 1918, 1919, and part of 1920. He had all of those lobby cards from Goldwyn movies made in a special way. The title card was like a normal title card, but all of the seven scene cards did not have the title of the movie printed anywhere on them! Obviously, theater owners hated the experiment, because it meant they could not tell which movie the scene cards were from unless they had specifically seen the movie. Similarly, lobby card collectors have the same problem, and we have sold many "unknown" Goldwyn lobby cards from 1918 to 1920 over the years! Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. Condition: good. There is staining and paper loss in the top left corner. Learn More about condition grades
