An Original Vintage Theatrical Autographed Movie Title Lobby Card (LC TC; measures 9 3/4" x 12 3/4" [25 x 32 cm]) (Learn More) Java Head, the 1923 George Melford silent interracial romance romantic love triangle melodrama ("Adapted by Waldemar Young from the novel by Joseph Hergesheimer"; the sort of movie they don't make anymore, with good reason; an American man in Java is forced to marry a princess to keep him from being killed, and he takes her back to New England, and he tries to be faithful to her, but he really loves his American girlfriend, and his Asian wife commits suicide so he can be with his true love) starring Leatrice Joy, Jacqueline Logan, Raymond Hatton, George Fawcett, and Albert Roscoe. Note that Paramount was unwilling to cast a real Asian woman in the lead role, so they hired Leatrice Joy, who had been born in Louisiana, and who in no way appeared Asian! Our consignor purchased this card from a collector who had obtained these autographs decades ago. He does not have a certificate of authenticity, but we feel certain the signature is authentic. Also note that we have never before auctioned this title card! Note that this lobby card has been trimmed and it now measures 9 3/4" x 12 3/4" [25 x 32 cm]. Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. As is true of all the signed items we are currently auctioning, we give every buyer 30 days in which to review what they purchased and they can return any item as long as it is within 30 days of the end of the auction.
