Note that John Whitney Sr. (who did the spiral title sequence for the movie) also did the spiral art for the posters from this movie, which was utilized by the poster artist Saul Bass. Also note that Alfred Hitchcock did not make a final decision on what to name this movie until the last minute! At various times, it had working titles of Darkling I Listen, Fear and Trembling, From Among the Dead, and Illicit Darkening. Many of the early advertising stills don't have a title at all, but say "An Alfred Hitchcock Production". Personally, we think "Vertigo" is a better title than any of those other four! Finally, note that critical acclaim for this movie has consistently risen in the years since it was first released. In fact, in the 2012 "Sight and Sound" poll of top movie critics, Vertigo was declared to be the number one film of all time, over Citizen Kane, and every other masterpiece! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this 1963 re-release lobby card group has images that are completely different from any of those from the 1958 set, and that set was only 2-color, while this re-release set is full-color, and the cards from it are surely much more rare than those from the 1958 first release! Condition: good to very good. Card #1 has slightly darkened. It has light scuffing and there are some creases at right (in Novak's cheek area) and at upper left (and the crease in Stewart's hair in that area is pretty sharp). Card #4 has light rippling in some portions of the edges and some fingerprint smudges at lower left. Card #5 has some light scuffing. Card #6 has some light scuffing and a thin red diagonal line at upper left that extends through Novak's cheek area (see our image). The cards are otherwise in pretty nice condition and they have no tape whatsoever on the front or back, and they never have had any restoration of any kind! Learn More about condition grades
