Zanuck's Wilson, the 1944 Henry King (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award for this film) political U.S. President biography melodrama ("The greatest event in 50 years of motion picture entertainment!"; nominated for Best Picture Academy Award; produced by Darryl F. Zanuck; about former United States President Woodrow Wilson) starring Alexander Knox (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film; in the title role as Woodrow Wilson), Charles Coburn, Geraldine Fitzgerald, Thomas Mitchell, Ruth Nelson, Sir Cedric Hardwicke (as Henry Cabot Lodge), Vincent Price, William Eythe, Mary Anderson, and Ruth Ford. Note that this movie was a pet project of producer Darryl F. Zanuck's, who had great admiration for President Wilson, and he was very disappointed when the movie did terribly at the box office, and it received ten Oscar nominations and won five Oscars, but even that made no difference with the public, which showed no interest in the movie!
