An Original Vintage 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] Decca Records Still (Learn More) Hildegarde (born Hildegarde Loretta Sell) was a singer from the 1930s to the 2000s. Her career spanned a remarkable 70 years, and she solely went by the single name Hildegarde. She was given the nickname "The Incomparable Hildegarde" by columnist Walter Winchell. Some of her works include: The Last Time I Saw Paris, Why Do I Love You and Lady in the Dark. She best known for the song "Darling, Je Vous Aime Beaucoup." Because she was solely billed as "Hildegarde", she can be confused with a different actress, Hildegarde Neff, but there is no connection other than their first name. She passed away in 2005 at the age of 99. Important Added Info: Note that this still is one of a remarkable group of deluxe Decca Records Jazz portraits that was just discovered! Each is printed on a high quality paper stock, and each has a FACSIMILE autograph that is within the printing of the still (the still has NOT been personally autographed). They surely date from the early 1940s, based on the stars contained within, and the records listed on the back of each. We have never seen or sold any of these before! Each of the 34 portraits are listed in their own individual auction. Condition: good to very good. There are faint vertical scuff marks in the bottom center of the still and one longer one running down the right center of the still, but they are mostly only noticeable when the still is tilted to the light.
