Date Sold 6/10/2008Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Window Card Movie Poster (measures 14" x 18") (Learn More) The Winning Ticket, the 1934 Charles Reisner gambling sweepstakes lottery ticket comedy ("The howling sweepstakes comedy!"; about a man who buys a lottery ticket, but doesn't tell his wife, because she doesn't want him to gamble, but then it proves to be the winner, and the ticket can't be found, because their baby made off with it, and they frantically search for it, which leads to them being put in jail) starring Leo Carrillo, Louise Fazenda, Ted Healy (most famous as the person who started The Three Stooges; they were first billed as "Ted Healy and his Stooges"; he let them go on their own, hiring replacement "Stooges", but that did not work out well at all!), Irene Hervey, and James Ellison. Note that the movie was based on a story by Robert Pirosh and George Seaton, and it seems likely they saw Rene Clair's 1931 movie "Le Million", because they "borrowed" a substantial portion of the plot of that movie. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this window card has been trimmed and now measures 14" x 18". The window card originally had a blank top that was neatly trimmed off (this was commonly done with window cards, when the top had been left blank, or when someone had hand-scrawled play date information in that area). Most collectors do not consider it to be a significant defect at all, since only blank white paper is lost, and the window card becomes easier to frame. Condition: very good.
