If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The left and right 2" of the poster were folded back at one time and there were creases and scuffs on those folds. There were pinholes, smudges, and faint stains around the edges. There was a 4" tear in the center of the top border. There was a pinhole in Van Doren's forehead at top right and some faint smudges and scuffs scattered in the image. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above. Note that at some point after linenbacking, the poster was roughly handled and there are now minor creases in the right border (solely in the excess linen, and not at all in the poster itself).
