An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More)

Buster Steps Out, the 1928 Francis Corby silent comedy short ("From the famous 'Buster Brown' cartoons by R.F. Outcault"; based on the extremely popular newspaper strip cartoon characters) starring Arthur Trimble (in the title role as Buster Brown), Doreen Turner, and Pete the Dog (billed as "Tige"). Note that Pete the Dog played Tige in all the Buster Brown movies starting in 1924. He also became Pete the Pup in the Our Gang movies, and he played that role until 1931, appearing in an amazing 90 movies over those seven years. Supposedly, he lived for another 15 years after he retired! Also note that the Stern Brothers were a very energetic pair of producers who made over 500 silent comedy shorts between 1917 and 1929!

What IS linenbacking? Learn More

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had irregular paper loss at the middle crossfold that extended 4" vertically and between 1/2" and 1 1/2" horizontally. It had tears and paper loss in the bottom half of the vertical fold and on parts of the horizontal folds. It had pinholes and tears around the edges. Overall, the poster was in fair to good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was really expertly backed by a very talented restorer, and the missing image areas and tears were expertly repaired, and the poster displays really well!
