An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Glass Slide (measures 3 1/4" x 4" [8 x 10 cm]) (Learn More) Always Audacious ("Toujours de L'Audace"), the 1920 James Cruze silent San Francisco California romantic mistaken identity melodrama ("Based on the Saturday Evening Post story by Ben Ames Williams"; about an upright successful fellow who finds he has a lookalike who is disreputable, and the lookalike gets him in big trouble, but he manages to make things right) starring Wallace Reid (in a dual role!), Margaret Loomis, Clarence Geldart, J.M. Dumont, and Rhea Haines. Note that it was a pretty common plot device in silent movies to not only have people meet their exact double, but also to then go on to impersonate them. I wonder if this happens much in real life. Note that this is a "lost" film, which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that glass slides were designed to be put in a special projector that would project the image onto a movie screen (they use exactly the same concept as 35mm slides). This slide is the kind that has two panes of glass that are taped together with black tape around all four edges (front and back), typical of many older glass slides. We have provided a high quality scan of the image, but we have not taken a photo of the slide, because there would really be very little to see! Condition: very good to fine.
