An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) Hey Rube, the 1928 George B. Seitz silent romantic circus carnival sideshow gambling melodrama (about a wheel-of-fortune operator who agrees to quit the carnival to win his girlfriend's love, but he has to return to running the wheel-of-fortune to get money for a friend's operation, and when he does, his old girlfriend, a firediver, tries to hurt the new girlfriend, but she ends up diving into an empty tank and getting killed!) starring Hugh Trevor, Gertrude Olmstead, Ethlyne Clair, Bert Moorhouse, and Walter McGrail. Note that "Hey, Rube!" is a slang phrase most commonly used in the United States by circus and travelling carnival workers ("carnies"), with origins in the middle 19th century. It is a rallying call, or a cry for help, used by carnies in a fight with outsiders. It is super closely associated with circuses and carnivals, and was a cliche by the time this movie was made in 1928! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Condition: good. There are many stains, smudges, pinholes, tears, and tiny paper loss around the edges, with a few in the image. Note that this lobby card is completely unrestored and there is not a single piece of tape on either the front or back! Learn More about condition grades
