An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Chapter #3 (The Hidden Hand) One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) The Fire Detective, the 1929 Spencer Gordon Bennet & Thomas Storey silent fireman firefighter rescue adventure serial ("Thrilling and Amazing Adventures"; "Blazing Pathe serial"; "From a story by Frank Leon Smith") starring Gladys McConnell, Hugh Allan, and Leo D. Maloney. We could find no complete plot synopsis of this serial (which had ten two-reel chapters), but we found an incomplete review that said that the hero of the serial was a man whose father made firefighting equipment, and he became a fireman to see how his father's equipment worked, and that the female lead was a newspaper woman also investigating the equipment. Sadly, this is a lost movie, meaning no prints are believed to have survived. According to the Exhibitors Daily Review, The Fire Detective was set to be the first serial with sound sequences (not a talkie, but synchronized sound effects). However, based on reviews of the time, those intended sound effects never happened, so it was a completely silent serial. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have only once before auctioned a one-sheet from this serial, and oddly, it was the very same chapter, but that was a different example. It auctioned 14 years ago, and it sold for $510. Condition: very good. The poster has a snipe glued to the bottom center of the image, but it is only glued at the left and right ends, and it could easily be removed by a talented amateur or a professional. It has 3" of separation at the left end of the middle fold and slight separation at the right ends of all three folds, with small paper loss in the middle of the right blank border. It has some pinholes around the edges and a few creases and tears on some folds, but overall, it has survived in surprisingly nice condition. Learn More about condition grades
