An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Professor Creeps, the 1942 William Beaudine Toddy Pictures black African American horror comedy ("Hot-dickety doings!"; "An all star-colored cast"; "A Jed Buell Production") starring Mantan Moreland, F.E. Miller (Flourney E. Miller), Arthur Ray (in the title role as Professor Whackingham Creeps), Florence O'Brien, and Maceo Bruce Scheffield. Note that Toddy Pictures purchased the rights to many 1930s all-black movies and re-released them in the early 1940s, but this is one of the movies where Toddy was the distributor for the first release of the movie (it was made by Dixie National Productions and distributed by Toddy). Also note that Flourney Miller was a major figure in black Broadway musical history, performing and writing with his partner Aubrey Lyles. After Lyles passed away in 1933, Miller appeared in a number of all-black movies in the 1930s and 1940s. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster had tiny paper loss at the crossfolds. It had paper loss in the right 7" of the top horizontal fold, but only in the blank white and yellow area. It had minor wear on the other foldlines and around the edges. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well! Learn More about condition grades
