An Original 1947 (from the first release of this movie in Italy) Vintage Theatrical Folded Italian Movie Poster (measures 39" x 52 3/4" [99 x 134 cm]) (Learn More) Bambu, the 1945 Jose Luis Saenz de Heredia Spanish Cuban Army romantic love-triangle comedy (about a man who leaves Madrid and enlists in the Cuban Army, he and a soldier meet a beautiful woman and they work together to hide her from her cruel father!) starring Imperio Argentina (in the title role as Bambu), Luis Pena, Fernando Fernandez de Cordoba, Fernando Fernan Gomez, and Sara Montiel. It appears this movie was never released in the U.S. If anyone knows more about this movie, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Artist: Alberto Giolitti Important Added Info: Note that movie paper from this film is incredibly rare. We have never auctioned even a single movie paper item from this movie until we were consigned this poster! Also, this is an extremely rare pre-World War II Italian poster! Virtually no Italian posters survive from before, during, or right after World War II (mostly only pre-war heavy stock lobby cards, and even those are rare). Apparently there were many paper shortages in Italy during World War II, resulting in the destruction of almost all pre-World War II posters! This poster also is an odd size (close to an Italian one-panel size, but slightly smaller). It was printed in two sections that were then glued together. This was done because they did not have a printing press big enough to print it in one section. Soon after this, Italian poster sizes became standardized. Finally, note that this poster measures 39" x 52 3/4" [99 x 134 cm]. As noted above, this Italian two-panel was printed in 2 sections designed to overlap, and they were glued together. Condition: good. As noted above, the poster was printed in two pieces and glued together.
