An Original Vintage Theatrical 8" x 9 1/2" [20 x 24 cm] Movie Still (Learn More) Woody Guthrie was a legendary singer-songwriter from the 1930s to the 1950s. He was one of the most significant figures in American folk music, and his work focused on themes of American socialism and anti-fascism. He has inspired several generations both politically and musically. In 1988, Woody was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and in 2000, he was honored with the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. His son, Arlo, is probably better known to the modern generation, especially for his classic song "Alice's Restaurant". Tragically, he developed Huntington's disease and died a slow and painful death over many years, and he passed away in 1967 at the age of 55 Important Added Info: Note that this wonderful still has a snipe on the back identifying Mr. Guthrie and saying that he "will appear at the People's Songs' Hootenanny", and we found that this event occurred in 1945, but it might have also occurred in other years in the 1940s. We certainly wish we could have been at that show, because with Mr. Guthrie were Leadbelly Ledbetter, Pete Seeger (credited as "Peter Seeger"), Big Bill Broomsy, The Duke of Iron, calypso singer, and others! Also note that this still measures 8" x 9 1/2" [20 x 24 cm], but it has not been trimmed. Condition: good to very good. There are some creases scattered throughout the still, but they are mostly only noticeable when the still is tilted to the light. Learn More about condition grades
