Teil: Der Wildtoter und Chingachgook, the 1920 Arthur Wellin silent historical Native American Indian melodrama (based on the novel 'Deerslayer' by James Fennimore Cooper) starring Emil Mamelok (in the title role as Deerslayer), Herta Heden (as Judith Hutter), Bela Lugosi (as Chingachook), Gottfried Kraus (as Tom Hutter), Edward Eyseneck (as Worley) and Margot Sokolowska (as Wah-ta-Wah). Note that this was one of the last German movies that Bela Lugosi made before he came to the U.S. He would appear in the 1920 U.S. version of "The Last of the Mohicans" as an uncredited Indian (oddly, Boris Karloff also played an uncredited Indian!). He had limited success in the U.S. over the decade in the 1920s, but of course, he would achieve great fame with his starring role in the stage version of "Dracula", which he repeated in the 1931 movie. Also, note that it appears likely that this started out as one movie based on the novels "Deerslayer" and "The Last of the Mohicans", and that it proved to be so long that it was released as two separate movies. The second film is "Lederstrumpf, 2 Teil: Der Letzte der Mohikaner" but, unfortunately, it is considered a "lost" film. If anyone knows more about these movies, please e-mail us and we will post it here. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this German still measures 8 1/4" x 10 1/4" [21 x 26 cm]. Condition: good to very good.
