Wellman San Francisco California pre-Code bad girl prostitution mother-son family relationship melodrama ("I've made men and I've ruined women!"; about a woman who becomes pregnant in San Francisco, and her boyfriend is killed in the 1906 earthquake, and she gives up the child to a rich family, and she becomes an important madam at a brothel, and years later, she is investigated by the new district attorney, who is her son, all grown up!) starring Ruth Chatterton (in the title role as Frisco Jenny Sandoval), Donald Cook, James Murray, Fritzi Ridgeway, and Louis Calhern NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that first release 1938 movie posters from this pre-Code bad girl movie are incredibly rare. We have only auctioned the one-sheet many years ago, some scene lobby cards, and some stills from this movie over the many years we have been auctioning. We suspect that the half-sheet may well look just like this wonderful title card (the one-sheet has a completely different image). Also note that this lobby card has been trimmed and it now measures 10" x 12 1/2" [25 x 32 cm]. Condition: good. The blank borders were neatly trimmed off. The card was attached to a mat with a 7" piece of clear tape on the back of the top center, and it was removed, leaving a tape stain in that area, but it does not affect the front. Obviously, this wonderful and rare card could be displayed just as it is, or it could have its borders replaced by a talented professional. Learn More about condition grades
