Date Sold 10/4/2020Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Half-Sheet Movie Poster (1/2sh; measures 22" x 28" [56 x 71 cm]) (Learn More) Angel, the 1937 Ernst Lubitsch romantic romantic love triangle infidelity melodrama (written by Samson Raphaelson; "She dared what many women only dream..... one more adventure!"; "From the play by Melchior Lengyel"; "English play adaptation by Guy Bolton, and Russee Meacraft"; about a married couple who decide to take separate vacations, and while the woman is on hers, she meets another man, and falls in love with him) starring Marlene Dietrich (in the title role as Maria 'Angel' Barker), Herbert Marshall, Melvyn Douglas, Edward Everett Horton, Ernest Cossart, Laura Hope Crews, and Herbert Mundin NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this is an extremely rare poster. We have only auctioned one in all our years of auctioning and that was in 2007! Note that while this poster CAN be rolled and sent in a tube, we are very reluctant to do that because it already has a number of vertical creases (see below), and sending it in a tube can make them worse. We intend to send this in a large flat package that measures approximately 24" x 30" unless the winning bidder insists on use sending it rolled in a tube and accepts responsibility for it. Note that this item needs to be shipped in an oversized flat package. Most of these items absolutely can only be sent in flat packages, and could not possibly be rolled into a tube. Some of them might SEEM like they could be rolled in a tube, like a half-sheet, but they can't. The reason these items are in this auction is specifically because they CAN'T be rolled (because rolling any of them would damage them, even if they somehow can be rolled). So please bear in mind that this item must be sent in a LARGE flat package (the size of the package will depend on the size of the item when ready for shipping), and bear this added expense in mind before placing a bid on it. IN THE CASE OF EXTREMELY LARGE FLAT ITEMS, THE SHIPPING COST WILL BE VERY HIGH, SO PLEASE DO NOT BID WITHOUT THINKING ABOUT THAT ADDED SHIPPING AMOUNT, AND INCLUDE THAT AMOUNT IN WHAT YOU BID (so if you would pay $150, but the shipping is likely $100, then only bid $50). And those who live outside the U.S. and who do not have a U.S. address to ship to SHOULD NOT BID AT ALL ON EXTREMELY LARGE FLAT ITEMS, BECAUSE THEY COST HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS TO SEND OUTSIDE THE U.S. Condition: fair. The poster was never machine folded but it was roughly handled while it was rolled and there are light partial vertical creases scattered through the poster. There are also many smudges scattered in the poster, with very noticeable stains in Douglas' face and a few in Dietrich's face. There is a scratch mark across Dietrich's chin just touching the edge of her mouth. Obviously this extremely rare poster can be "rescued" by a talented restorer, but bear all of the above in mind before bidding. Learn More about condition grades
