An Original Vintage Linenbacked Three-Sheet Stage Play Poster (3sh; measures 41 1/4" x 83 3/4" [105 x 213 cm]) (Learn More)

A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, the 1962 - 1964 George Abbott Broadway stage play production (of the play by Burt Shevelove, Larry Gelbart & Stephen Sondheim, which was a parody of the plays of Plautus) starring Zero Mostel, Jack Gilford, David Burns, Ruth Kobart, Brian Davis, Preshy Marker, Ronald Holgate, Eddie Phillips, George Reeder, David Evans, Raymond Walburn, and John Carradine. Of course, this play became a Richard Lester movie in 1966, with Mostel and Gilford reprising their roles, but with most of the other cast replaced, most notably with the addition of Buster Keaton and young Michael Crawford (who would much later become the Phantom of the Opera on Broadway!).
If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that this stage play three-sheet measures 41 1/4" x 83 3/4" [105 x 213 cm].

What IS linenbacking? Learn More

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster had an uneven tear running from the white background below the end of the title down at a slight diagonal to the bottom border, with a small tear running vertically off of it. It also tiny paper loss at just a few crossfolds and a very few creases, scuffs, and tiny tears on parts of some folds. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking (other than the tears described above, the poster was in excellent condition). The poster was nicely backed, and displays well!
