An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Title Lobby Card (LC TC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) Of Mice and Men, the classic 1940 Lewis Milestone Depression era best-friends-trying-to-make-enough-to-live-a-good-life adventure melodrama ("Hollywood said it could never be made but now it's on the screen"; "I'm Lennie... I didn't mean to do no bad thing."; "I'm George... I always knowed Lennie would get us into a mess... A bad mess."; "I'm Mae... I'm straight, I tell you... Nobody's got no right to call me names."; "Sure I got a husband! He ain't never home. I got nobody to talk to... I got nobody to be with... I want to see somebody... Just see 'em and talk to 'em. I come from a nice home. I was brung up by nice people. I'm straight, I tell you. Nobody's Got No Right To Call Me Names!"; "The picture Hollywood said could never be made!"; "A mighty novel! A sensational stage success! Now! The year's most important picture!"; "A novel by John Steinbeck author of 'Grapes of Wrath'"; produced by Hal Roach; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award) starring Burgess Meredith (as George), Betty Field (as Curly's wife, Mae), Lon Chaney Jr. (as Lennie), Bob Steele (as Curly), Charles Bickford, and Roman Bohnen NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned three examples of this title card! Note that this title card has a very odd slant for selling this classic movie. It ignores the main characters of George and Lenny, and instead focuses on Curly's wife, played by Betty Field, and has a wacky tagline implying the movie is about her being a bad girl, and they added "the picture Hollywood said could never be made"! We wonder if they weren't scared to death that the movie would bomb out and were trying to sell it as a sleazy sex drama (but note that the one-sheet does not have this same ad campaign and does have prominent images of Chaney and Meredith)! Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. Condition: good. There are some scuffs and light stains scattered in the image area, with paper loss in the top left blank corner and some tiny surface tears in the middle right of the blue box (someone performed touch up to that area). Please look at our super-sized images to get a good sense of the exact condition of this card. Learn More about condition grades
