An Original 1963 (from the first release of this movie in Italy) Vintage Theatrical Folded Italian One-Panel (known in Italy as a "2 Fogli") Movie Poster (1p; measures 39" x 55" [99 x 140 cm]) (Learn More) The Day of the Triffids, the classic 1962 Steve Sekely English science fiction (sci-fi) plant horror thriller ("Beware the Triffids... They grow... Know... Walk... Talk... Stalk... And Kill!"; "From the greatest science-fiction novel of all time!"; "Spine Chilling Terror"; "The Triffids are coming! The Triffids are growing! The Triffids are killing!"; "A brain-chilling tale of tomorrow happens in our world today!"; "The Triffids are coming to devour the human race!"; "From the greatest science-fiction novel of all time!"; "... suddenly the hideous crawling things are everywhere... and no one can escape!"; "From the nightmare novel that made the world shudder"; "From the Novel by John Wyndham, author of 'Village of the Damned'") starring Howard Keel, Nicole Maurey, Janette Scott, Kieron Moore, Mervyn Johns, and Janina Faye. Note that Janette Scott is best remembered for her starring role in this movie, which was immortalized in the lyrics of the song from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" that says "And I really got hot When I saw Janette Scott fight a triffid that spits poison and kills." She divorced her first husband and married Mel Torme in 1966, which pretty much ended her career, as she quickly had two children. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: good. There is paper loss in the left border that slightly extends into the background area. There is paper loss in the bottom left blank corner. There is paper loss in the top of the "M" of "MOSTRI" in the title. There is an 18" uneven tear starting in the right of the bottom border and extending up through the background into the bottom of the plant monster. There is a 10" horizontal razor cut near the middle of the plant monster, with tiny paper loss at the end of it, and a tear that continues vertically down from the left end. There are pinholes around the edges and tears on parts of many folds. There are pieces of masking tape on the back of parts of the borders, where there were pinholes, and on the back of parts of the folds where there was separation or tears. In spite of the poster's many defects that are described in detail above, it is still a wonderful candidate for restoration. Why? Because there is very little actual paper loss that affects the image at all (see our image to verify that!), and the colors of the poster are bright, indicating it was not displayed much. After a pretty routine restoration by a talented restorer, this poster will look incredible (and the poster has sold for huge amounts of money, and only in slightly better condition than this poster is). I guarantee that the new owner will love having this wonderful poster on their wall, once it is properly restored! Learn More about condition grades
