An Undated (probably 1964) Re-Release Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Italian Two-Panel (known in Italy as a "4 Fogli") Movie Poster (2p; measures 55" x 78") (Learn More) Alfred Hitchcock's To Catch a Thief, the 1955 Alfred Hitchcock romantic crime mystery thriller ("It's a web of romance and suspense that spins you from delight to danger - then spirals to an explosive climax on the fabulous Riviera!"; "Based on the novel by David Dodge"; "Screenplay by John Michael Hayes"; about a retired jewel thief living on the Riviera, and there is a string of daring jewel robberies, so naturally, he is the lead suspect, and he decides to find the true thief himself, and he is aided by a beautiful rich young woman and her mother!) starring Cary Grant, Grace Kelly, Jessie Royce Landis, John Williams, Charles Vanel, Brigitte Auber, Rene Blancard, Georgette Anys, and Jean Martinelli. Note that Cary Grant had announced his retirement from movies in 1953, but he was lured out of retirement by Hitchcock to make this one. Also note that Jessie Royce Landis, who had played Grant's mother in "North by Northwest", this time played his potential mother-in-law, and yet, she was only eight years older than Grant, who had aged very well! Important Added Info: Note that this Italian two-panel poster was printed in 2 sections (designed to overlap) and when combined, the poster measures 55" x 78". Note that it is difficult to accurately date Italian posters, and some unmarked re-release posters can be extremely difficult to distinguish from first releases, so please bear that in mind before you place a bid. What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster had tiny paper loss at some crossfolds and some darkening, tiny tears, and tiny bits of paper loss on parts of some foldlines, and some minor border wear. There were a few scuffs and small tears in the blue background. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well!
