Date Sold 10/16/2012 Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. 8 Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Cards (LCs; measure 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) An American Romance, the 1944 King Vidor immigration romantic melodrama ("MGM's Mighty Technicolor Drama!"; "Out of the sinews of the nation, out of its ambitions and dreams, a success story, a love story to thrill and inspire!"; set at the turn of the 20th century, and the beginning of the Industrial Revolution, it is a rags-to-riches story with a hero who is part Andrew Carnegie, and part Henry Ford, and he rises from working in an ore mine to becoming a major automobile manufacturer) starring Brian Donlevy, Ann Richards, Walter Abel, John Qualen, Stephen McNally (billed as "Horace McNally"), and Bob Lowell NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that these lobby cards were printed in the United States for use at theaters with Spanish speaking audiences (this was done most by MGM, starting in the 1930s, but it was done by the other major studios as well, and often the posters would have the exact same image as the English language poster, except the writing would be in Spanish, and on posters from the 1930s and 1940s there would be an added "Toda en Espanol!", meaning "Entirely in Spanish!", printed within the image). Sometimes posters from the 1960s or later will have the word "SPANISH" printed in the bottom border (or sometimes stamped on the back of the poster). Also note that this auction also includes the envelope this item originally came with! Condition: very good to fine. Note that these lobby cards are in excellent condition and have no tape whatsoever on the front or back, and they have never had any restoration of any kind! Learn More about condition grades
