Date Sold 4/17/2022Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) Prisoners, the 1929 William A. Seiter romantic love triangle robbery crime melodrama (based on the novel by Ferenc Molnar; a wacky story about a pretty waitress who steals money from the owner of the cafe she works in, and she tells her lawyer, who is young and handsome, that she only did it so she could buy fancy clothes to win his love!; he has a fiancee, who offers to repay the money to the cafe owner if he drops charges and the girl will leave town, but she refuses, and goes to jail, because she loves the lawyer that much, and that causes him to break off with his fiancee and wait for the girl to get out of jail!) starring Corinne Griffith, Ian Keith, Otto Matieson, Baron Hesse, Julanne Johnston, and Bela Lugosi (sixth billed and in one of his earliest credited roles in a U.S. movie!) NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that Bela Lugosi was likely not pictured on any of the posters for this movie, but he is prominently pictured in this lobby card! Note that ANY movie paper items from this movie are incredibly rare. We have only previously auctioned two scene cards (one with the same image as this, but that example was in "poor to fair" condition) and three stills from this movie (and NO other movie paper) until we received this third lobby card, which both has Lugosi and is in MUCH better condition than the other example of this card we auctioned! Note that there is a stamp on the back that reads "FROM THE COLLECTION OF Michael R. Hawks", who most would consider the premier lobby card collector and expert in the world (and he is still an active collector, looking for the last few items he needs!). Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. Condition: good. The card has some light scuffing scattered in parts of the image, more likely a minor printing defect than an acquired defect. It has some faint stains in the blank borders. Note that this card is completely unrestored and there is not a single piece of tape on either the front or back! Learn More about condition grades
