Bringing another great best-seller to the screen!"; "The nearer they get to their treasure the farther they get from the law!"; "Based on the Novel by B. Traven"; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award; about three men who prospect for gold and the mixed blessings they find when they discover much gold) starring Humphrey Bogart (as Fred C. Dobbs), Walter Huston (winner of the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film), Tim Holt, Bruce Bennett, Barton MacLane, Alfonso Bedoya (as Gold Hat), John Huston (the director, as the man who gives Bogart money three times), and Robert 'Bobby' Blake. Note that the author of the book this classic movie was based on was written by a VERY unusual man known as "B. Traven", and you might want to research him, because it is amazing that no one has made a book about his life! Also note that Tim Holt's father appeared in a tiny cameo role in the "flop house" scene, as a fun favor to his son. Also note that there is an urban legend that Ann Sheridan plays the hooker who Humphrey Bogart sees after he gets cleaned up. Actually, that is not Ann Sheridan in the film, but she DID get made up for that scene, and there are still photos of her, so it is almost true! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster has never been machine folded! Most insert posters were folded twice horizontally right off of the printing press. It is very difficult to find an unfolded example of most insert posters, especially from before 1970! Condition: good to very good. The poster was never folded! It was displayed in a frame and the back of the poster has darkened, and the front of the borders have darkened around the outer edges, and there is much more darkening down the right edge. There is some surface paper loss around the edges and tiny pinholes in the corners. There are some creases and very faint stains in the bottom 2" of the poster, but otherwise, the image area of the poster is only slightly affected by any of the above defects. The poster has never had any sort of restoration or tape on the front or back. Certainly, I could imagine many collectors displaying it as it is, but it is also true that many of the defects are the sort that respond well to restoration, so whether it is restored or not, I think the new owner will be happy to have this poster in their collection, but please look closely at our super-sized image to see exactly what its defects are.
