An Original Vintage Theatrical 8" x 10 1/4" [20 x 26 cm] Movie Still (Learn More)

Hit of the Show, the 1928 Ralph Ince theater stage vaudeville tragic romantic love triangle Apache dancer melodrama ("Sensational epic of life backstage"; presented by Joseph P. Kennedy; an unusual story of a vaudeville performer who falls for a woman who is the partner of an Apache dancer, which was a French dance where the man manhandled the woman, imitating a French gangster, and the performer sees the male dancer hurt the female dancer, and he manages to take his place in the act, and he does a wonderful job, but at the end of his performance, he collapses and dies!) starring Gertrude Olmstead, Joe E. Brown, Gertrude Astor, Daphne Pollard, William Bailey, Cosmo Kyrle Bellew, and Lee Shumway. Note that to this point, Joe E. Brown had been a light comedy actor, and in this movie, he took a straight dramatic role, but the movie was not very successful, so he returned to his comedy roots and became a giant star (but one great aspect of this movie is that he showed that he was a wonderful dancer during the Apache dancing scene!). Note that this is a "lost" film, which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist.

Important Added Info: Note that ANY movie paper from this movie is incredibly rare. We have only previously auctioned two window cards and three lobby cards from this movie, and NO other movie paper, until we received this still!
