Although Buchanan never became famous, he is still considered one of the most influential guitar players ever. Some of his albums include: Roy Buchanon, Rescue Me, and Dancing on the Edge. He passed away in 1988 at the age of 48. He had been arrested for public intoxication, and was found hanged by his shirt in his jail cell, though it was reported that bruises were present on Roy's head at the time of his death.
