Date Sold 7/3/2016Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. 27 Original Vintage Theatrical 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] Movie Stills (Learn More) Man in the Wilderness, the 1971 Richard C. Sarafian revenge-and-survival cowboy western adventure thriller ("They just couldn't find the time to bury him. They should have."; "He's dead, they thought. He's dead, they hoped."; "He was left for dead. He would not forget."; "Written by Jack de Witt"; based on a true story about a man who is attacked by a bear and left for dead by his companions but who manages to survive and then seeks revenge) starring Richard Harris (in the title role as Zachary Bass), John Huston ("as Captain Henry"), Henry Wilcoxon, Percy Herbert, Dennis Waterman, John Bindon, and Ben Carruthers. Note that this movie was based on the same true-life story as the 2015 film, The Revenant NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: SUPER IMPORTANT! THOUGH ONLY EIGHT OF THE STILLS ARE PICTURED, THE HIGH BIDDER ON THIS LOT WILL RECEIVE 27 STILLS FROM THIS MOVIE (but realize that on some of these lots with 9 or more stills there may be a few duplicates, mostly on post-1960 lots)! We realize there is an element of gambling to this, but we made only a small effort to find the best stills in these lots, and, if you have any willingness to gamble at all, you may find that you get some great stills that were not pictured! Please do NOT bid on this lot unless you can accept that you are only seeing eight of the stills. Note that these stills appear in every way to be original U.S. release EXCEPT that there is one very tiny line of French type in the lower right of each still. It reads, "IMPRIME AUX ETATS-UNIS D'AMERIQUE". A collector has told us that he believes this means the stills were printed for use in areas that included French-speaking parts of Canada, but that they WERE printed in the U.S., and that makes complete sense to us (and we have seen this on stills from the 1940s through the early 2000s, so it has certainly been done for an extremely long time)! So they are original stills from 1971, but they were printed partially for use in French-speaking Canada. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Condition: good. Some have faint stains scattered in various areas and one has much surface paper loss in the image. One or more stills are not pictured (see above) but please see our super-size image to get a good sense of the general overall condition of this lot. Learn More about condition grades
