An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded English Export Movie Poster (measures 15" x 40" [38 x 102 cm]) (Learn More)

From Jerusalem To the Dead Sea, the 1912 Sidney Olcott silent Middle East Christian religious Holy Land travelogue documentary short. The documentary was partially filmed on location in the Holy Land in Jerusalem, and featured many iconic religious places there, including the Tomb of Rachael, the Mount of Temptation, the River Jordan and the Dead Sea

Important Added Info: Note that movie paper from this film is incredibly rare. We have never auctioned even a single movie paper item from this movie until we were consigned this poster! It is very unusual, because it measures the same size as Australian "long" daybills, but it was definitely printed in England, and we wonder if England didn't use this size in the early 1910s and that Australia later copied it! This is an export poster, which could have a foreign-language title added at a later time (this specific poster was intended for use in German-speaking areas). Also note that this is an extremely rare pre-World War II English poster! Virtually no English posters survive from the 1940s or earlier, because during World War II there were many paper shortages resulting in the destruction of almost all pre-World War II posters! Note also that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube.

Condition: good. There are light brown stains around the edges, more so down the left side. There is a slightly diagonal crease in the upper left image background and some darkening in the middle fold. There are pinholes in the corners with small paper loss in the top blank corners. After a relatively simple linenbacking the poster will look great!
