An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 10 3/4" x 13 3/4" [27 x 35 cm]) (Learn More) Michael Shayne: Private Detective, the 1940 Eugene Forde mystery gambling comedy ("Laugh and thrill with fiction's favorite new sleuth.") starring Lloyd Nolan (in the title role as Michael Shayne), Marjorie Weaver, Joan Valerie, Walter Abel, Elizabeth Patterson, Donald MacBride, Douglass Dumbrille, and George Meeker. Note that "Michael Shayne: Private Detective" was the first in a series of twelve detective movies based on the character created by Brett Halliday. Lloyd Nolan played the character in the first seven movies between 1940 and 1942. There was then a 4 year gap and the series resumed in 1946, with Hugh Beaumont (best remembered as the father in TV's "Leave it to Beaver") taking over the role and he starred in five movies in 1946 and 1947. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this lobby card has been trimmed and it now measures 10 3/4" x 13 3/4" [27 x 35 cm]. Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. Condition: good to very good. The card was in a bound volume and it was very neatly (and very slightly) trimmed on its top, right, and bottom borders. It was removed from the bound volume roughly and there is now a jagged edge down the left blank border, along with tiny holes from where it was bound. The card measures 10 3/4" x 13 3/4", so it was only a small amount of each blank border that was trimmed. Otherwise, the card is in nice condition. Note that this lobby card is completely unrestored and there is not a single piece of tape on either the front or back! Learn More about condition grades
