An Original Vintage Campaign Book (measures 12" x 15" [30 x 38 cm]; 174 pages) (Learn More) The spiral-bound hardcover campaign book containing the Columbia yearbooks for BOTH 1945-1946 AND 1946-1947! We have auctioned lots of studio campaign books, but we have NEVER before seen one where two years are combined in one! We can't say why this was done, but it is clearly intentional, because the binding (which has snaps at the top and bottom that allow it to be opened) is clearly designed for exactly the size of the two books, and there is a hardcover binding that has a wrap over piece with two button snaps on it that closes the book, and all of this was clearly designed for both books in one. Prior to the discover of this "double" campaign book, we had never auctioned a Columbia campaign book after 1940-41, or before 1953, so we don't know if this could have been done for other years as well. The two years are separated by a clear plastic piece. Each of the campaign books has around 80 to 90 pages, with 174 pages in all between the two years. Many of the pages are great full-color ads for upcoming movies, but there are also two-color and black & white ads as well. In addition, some of the ads are "fold-outs" (either 2 pages or 4 pages, and one, for The Crime Doctor, has multiple pages). The books cover all of Columbia's best films of this period, including The Jolson Story and Dead Reckoning, and many others! We did not have the time to go through every single page looking for all the best ones to picture, but one of the ones we did picture is an ad for Three Stooges shorts, and there could well be others! Important Added Info: Note that included with this "double" campaign book is a letter from Columbia Pictures from their assistant general sales manager dated August 30, 1946, and it mentions that Columbia is sending theater owners stickers and snipes that make corrections on some of the pages in the double campaign book. Paper clipped to the letter are five different items that have corrections! Note: We have 19 images of the campaign books in this set, but due to a space limitation, only TEN of the 19 images are displayed above. However, there is a "supersize" link to the right of those images that lets you see the other 9. Condition: very good. The hardcover binding has scuffs on it and a few of the interior pages has some tiny stains, but most are in nice condition.
