An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked English One-Sheet Movie Poster (measures approximately 27" x 40") (Learn More) The Ladykillers, the classic 1955 (released in the U.S. in 1956) Alexander Mackendrick English Ealing Studios gangster crime black comedy ("A riot of fun!"; "The most hilarious gangster film ever made!"; "FUNNIEST crime story ever!"; "The Titan of Comedy in his most hilarious frolic!"; "Written by William Rose"; about a gang of thieves who rent a room from a little old lady as a hideout from which to perform their crimes, but then she learns of their activities, they decide to kill her, but she proves to be indestructible!) starring Alec Guinness ("As the guiding genius of 'The Ladykillers'"), Katie Johnson (billed as "introducing Katie Johnson" and "the inimitable Katie Johnson"), Cecil Parker, Herbert Lom, Peter Sellers, Danny Green, Jack Warner, and Frankie Howerd NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this is a rare "country of origin" poster for this English movie! Also note that this English one-sheet measures approximately 27" x 40" and is linenbacked. Condition: very good. This poster was linenbacked, and one of the following is true: either the poster had very minor defects, and was well backed, OR it had more significant defects, but they were extremely well restored, OR it had some minor defects that were not completely restored, and are somewhat noticeable. You can tell which of the above is the case for this particular poster by reading our "pre-restoration" description and also by looking at our "super-sized" image of the actual poster (we are the only major auction company we know of that gives accurate detailed pre-restoration information about linenbacked posters to our bidders, but we wish everyone did!). The poster has many smudges scattered throughout the image. These may be a printing defect (likely caused by the poster being folded too quickly after printing, or they may be smudges caused in some other way). Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but the restorer did not perform any restoration on the light smudges throughout the image (which are not all that distracting). Learn More about condition grades
