Leeds detective mystery crime thriller (based on the novel 'The High Window' by Raymond Chandler) starring Lloyd Nolan (as detective Michael Shayne), Heather Angel, Doris Merrick, Ralph Byrd, and Richard Lane. Note that "Michael Shayne: Private Detective" was the first in a series of twelve detective movies based on the character created by Brett Halliday. Lloyd Nolan played the character in the first seven movies between 1940 and 1942. There was then a 4 year gap and the series resumed in 1946, with Hugh Beaumont (best remembered as the father in TV's "Leave it to Beaver") taking over the role and he starred in five movies in 1946 and 1947. Often window cards would be folded across the middle, because that would make them 11" x 14", and they could then be sent with standard folded posters.
